Herman Struble has accident on Depot Road Springwater

From the Wayland Register, August 1913

While driving down from the Erie depot last Saturday afternoon with a team and democrat, Herman Struble met with what might have been a serious accident.

He had gone to the four o’clock train after three ladies and a boy and it was while he was returning, and when nearly opposite the residence of station agent Green that a neck-yoke strap broke and the team became unmanageable.

However, Mr. Struble succeeded in running them into the ditch and at this juncture the democrat was overturned throwing the occupants out.

All escaped serious injury with the exception of one of the ladies who was seriously cut about the head. Medical assistance was soon in attendance and rendered aid to the injured.

Later the party resumed their journey to the home of Mr. Struble at Canadice.
