17 January 1950

East Bloomfield - Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kingsley of Honeoye were guests of honor at a dinner given by their children on their 50th wedding anniversary.

The wedding of Miss Elna Caskey and Fred Kingsley took place Jan. 17, 1900, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Caskey at Canadice Corners. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. W. Decker, pastor of the Canadice Methodist church. Attending the couple were Miss Maude Becker, now Mrs. William VanDyne, and Mr. VanDyne, who were also present at the anniversary dinner.

Helping to celebrate the occasion were also three of five children of the couple, Everett Kingsley of Lima, Mrs. Paul Abbey of Rochester, and Mrs. Donald Conklin of East Bloomfield; five grandchildren, June Kingsley of Lima, Laura Kingsley of Honeoye, Paul Abbey, Jr. of Rochester and Frederick and Lewis Conklin of East Bloomfield; Mrs. Lem Mastin of Honeoye, a sister of Mrs. Kingsley; Earle Caskey, Honeoye Falls, and Willard Caskey, Honeoye, her two brothers. The latter three attended the ceremony 50 years ago.

Mr. and Mrs Fred Kingsley of Honeoye celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary quietly at their home on Sunday, Jan. 16th, 1955 with their children and grandchildren present.

Fred Kingsley and Elna Caskey were married at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Caskey of Canadice Corners, on Jan. 17, 1900. They have lived most of their lives in the Honeoye vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley have four children living: Everett of Lima, Mrs. Donald Conklin of Ionia, Mrs Pearl Abbey of Rochester and Gladys of Honeoye.

They were presented with a television set by their children and grandchildren. Mr. Kingsley is caretaker of the Honeoye Congregational Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kingsley celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary quietly at their home in Honeoye village on Jan. 16 with their children and grandchildren.

Fred Kingsley and Elna Caskey were married on Jan. 17, 1900 at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Caskey of Canadice Corners. They have four children and several grandchildren. Mr. Kingsley is caretaker at the Honeoye Congregational Church.

Honeoye NY - Fred A. Kingsley died unexpectedly today (Oct. 19, 1957) in his home here.

He leaves his wife, Elna Caskey Kingsley; three daughters, Gladys of Sonyea, Mrs. Donald Conklin of East Bloomfield and Mrs. Paul Abbey of Rochester; a son, Everett L. Kingsley of Lima; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at his home, a service will be conducted in Honeoye Congregational Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Canadice Cemetery. Contribution may be made in his memory to the memorial fund of the Honeoye Congregational Church. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Brown Funeral Home.

Canadice friends were grieved to learn of the death Saturday morning of Fred A. Kingsley of Honeoye, after an illness of only three days.

Mr. Kingsley was one, and the last survivor, of seven children of the late Addison and Adeline Kingsley, a well-known and respected Canadice family for many years.

He was born June 28, 1873, on the town line road between Canadice and Springwater where his early life was pasted. He was a farmer in town for several years, later living in Victor and Richmond, where he also engaged in farming.

On Jan. 17, 1900, he was united in marriage with Miss Elna Caskey, also of Canadice, who survives, with one son, Everett Kingsley of Lima; three daughters, Miss Gladys of Sonyea, Mrs. Donald (Doris) Conklin of East Bloomfield, Mrs. Paul (Iolene) Abbey of Rochester; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A son, Leslie, died in infancy, and a son, Floyd, died a few years ago.

For the past five years Mr. Kingsley had been a faithful custodian of the Honeoye Congregational Church, where his funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon. A nephew, Rev. Walter Kingsley, and Rev. P. L. Graham officiated. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Honeoye.

Mrs. Elna C. Kingsley of East Bloomfield, a native of the town of Canadice, died Monday, June 19, 1961, in Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua, the day after she was admitted as a patient. She had been in poor health for a number of years, and a bed patient for the past six months.

She was born in the town of Canadice Feb. 23, 1880, and lived in the town of Richmond until the death of her husband, Fred Kingsley, three years ago. She was a member of the Allen’s Hill Methodist Church.

Surviving are one son, Everett of Lima; three daughters, Gladys of Sonyea, Mrs. Donald Conklin of East Bloomfield, and Mrs. Paul Abbey of Rochester; two brothers, willard Caskey of Honeoye and Earl Caskey of Honeoye Falls; one sister, Mrs. Lemon Mastin of Honeoye; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be held today, Thursday, at 2:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 20 Washington St., Livonia. Her nephew, the Rev. Walter Kingsley, pastor of the Akron Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Honeoye.
