The Obituary of Leigh A. Norget

12 December 1885 - 25 July 1961

Rochester NY - Dr. Leigh A. Norget, 76, a veterinarian for 50 years in Henrietta, died yesterday (July 25, 1961) in Monroe County Infirmary after a long illness.

Dr. Norget, who lived at 3156 East Henrietta Road, had been in semi-retirement the last year. A native of Canadice NY, he attended the old Genesee Wesleyan Seminary in Lima and was graduated from the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Veterinary College.

He was a member of Christview Methodist Church Henrietta, Henrietta Lodge F&AM, and the Rochester Consistory. He was a former chief of Henrietta Fire Co. No. 1.

Dr. Norget leaves a son, Robert D., and a sister, Mrs. E. W. Hargrave, of West Sands Lake, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Holla-Leary Funeral Home, 1256 Mt. Hope Ave. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Henrietta.

The Obituary of Evalyn Coons Norget

Henrietta - At her home in East Henrietta, on August 18, 1951, occurred the unexpected death by a heart attack, of Mrs. Ava Aileen Coons Norget, 61, wife of Dr. Leigh A. Norget.

Mrs. Norget was the oldest daughter of the late Albert M. and Flora Marcy Coons, and was born in Naples on December 26, 1889. On December 31, 1914, she was united in marriage with Dr. Norget.

In 1912, she became a member of the Naples Methodist Church, and she had been active in the church in her own community, also in the O.E.S., the Home Bureau, and other organizations of which she was a member.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert Norget, two granddaughter, Evalyn J. and Marian L. Norget, of Henrietta one brother, Walter M. Coons, and one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Gillette, both of Naples; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Service were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the home, and from the East Henrietta Congregational church at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Mr. Carlson.

Burial was made in Maplewood cemetery, in Henrietta.
