The Obituary of Harriet E. Knowles Howe 12 May 1878 - 17 September 1933 From the Wayland Register, 14 September 1933 Mrs. Harriet Knowles Howe, wife of Charles Howe of Hastings-on-the-Hudson, died Thurday, September 7th, following an operation at Yonkers hospital, at the age of 55. Mrs. Howe was born in Springwater NY May 12, 1878, and was the only child of Horace and Martha Knowles. Her parents died during her childhood and she lived with her uncle, the late Jonathan Howe of Springwater. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jane, who is a student at Mount Holyoke college, and one step-son, Dr. Howard Howe of John Hopkins medical school at Baltimore MD. Funeral services were conducted from the home of Mrs. Huldah Howe at Springwater Sunday afternoon, the Rev. M. H. Holmes of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Interment was in Mount Vernon Evergreen cemetery.
