From the Steuben Courier, 1 January 1926

Springwater - Mrs. Mary Hickok died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Albert Down, in Canadice, Wednesday morning, December 16th, after an illness of about four months. Mrs. Hickok was a great sufferer but bore it with the greatest of patience until the end came.

She formerly lived in this town until three years ago when she went to live with her niece. She was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Jane Macomber, of Canadice, and was born in that town eighty-one years ago. She was the wife of the late Rev. Horatio Hickok, of this village.

Mrs. Hickok was a member of the Advent church of this village and a charter member of the W. C. T. U. of Hemlock, which she joined forty-three years ago.

She was a woman loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed by her friends. She leaves two nieces, Mrs. Albert Down, of Canadice, and Mrs. Edward Meachum, of Rochester. The funeral took place at the Advent Christian church.
