The Obituary of Edward W. Hargrave I

25 June 1879 - 9 October 1961

Albany - Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow for the Rev. Edward R. Hargrave, 82, pastor emeritus of Brunswick Presbyterian Church, who died yesterday at Samaritan Hospital, Troy.

Mr. Hargrave, who lived in West Sand Lake, retired in 1958 after 11 years at the Brunswick church. He had also served the Clinton Heights Community Congregational Church several years, and since his retirement had preached at churches in the Troy Presbytery.

Mr. Hargrave was widely known for his religious paintings,some of which hang in several New York State churches. A native of Canisteo, he attended Genesee Wesleyan Seminary, Cornell Universary and Drew Universary, Madison, N. J. He was a 32d degree Mason.

Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie Norget; three sons, James, Principal of West Sand Lake School; Edward of Palmyra, and Francis Hargrave of Ithaca; a daughter, Mrs. Rudolp Evancoe of Averill Park, and six grandchildren.

The Rev. Oliver Warren, pastor emeritus of Waterford First Presbyterian Church will conduct services at 2 p.m. at the Brunswick church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Troy - Mrs. Minnie Norget Hargrave, 93, widow of the Rev Edward W. Hargrave who served Methodist Churches in this area for many years, died in Troy Wednesday Dec. 11, 1968.

She was a native of Canadice NY and taught school there. Her husband was a member of the Genesee Methodist Conference for 20 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Evancoe of Averill Park, three sons, James of West Sand Lake, Edward of Palmyra and Francis of Ithaca; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted in White Church, Center Brunswick, near Troy.
