The Obituary of Gideon Harder 1876 - 7 April 1953 From the Livonia Gazette, 9 April 1953 Gideon Harder, Sr., 77, of Hemlock die on the way to Strong Memorial Hospital Tuesday evening, Apr. 7, following a sudden illness at his home. Mr. Harder was born in a log cabin on Marrowback in 1876, the son of William and Catherine Smith Harder. He was a farmer for many years, adn then carried on a threshing business. Mr. Harder is survived by his wife, Ina Smith Harder; two sons, Kennard and William Gideon; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Knapp of Hemlock and Mrs. Robrt Patchin of Detroit; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a nephew. Funeral services will be held at the Brown Funeral Home, Friday, Apr. 10, at 2 p.m. with burial in the Union Cemetery, Livonia.
