Michigan Poetess Pens Tribute

From the Avon Herald, 28 June 1940

In a published book of verses written by Hazel Adell Jackson is one which the author cherishes above all the others. That one is a written tribute to Avon by the author, whose grandmother was born here in 1805.

The grandmother’s name was Almira L. Siever and in 1826 she married Jacob Fisher. Their oldest son, William Pitt Fisher is the first named on the monument to the Civil War Veterans in the village park.
