The Obituary of Eva J. Stoddard Down March 1862 - 13 January 1944 From the Livonia Gazette, 20 January 1944. Hemlock - On Thursday evening Jan. 13, occurred the death of Mrs. Eva Stoddard Down, who would have been 82 years old in March. Her parents died when she was a young child and she was adopted by relatives, the Rev. and Mrs. Horatio Hickok. She was a past noble grand of the Hemlock Rebekah lodge and an active member of the W.C.T.U. from the time of organization, until recently. She was also a member of the Advent church of Springwater but contributed to the local church activities and will be missed by her many friends whom she enjoyed entertaining in her hospitable home. She is survived by her husband, Albert S. Down. The funeral was held at the home, Monday aftenoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Ernest Sanderson of Pavilion, a former paster of Hemlock M. E. church, officiated. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery, Springwater NY. |
