On Friday and Saturday nights, Jan. 13 and 14, “The College Flapper,” a modern comedy, will be staged in the IOOF hall at Hemlock under the auspices of Onehda lodge. This up-to-date college comedy, embracing a thrilling football story, promises to be the big event of the season. The cast will consist of about one-hundred local people from Hemlock and surrounding towns.

Jerry, the football star of Bula Bula college, played by D. Sayre Beam, supposed to be at a special practice, is instead in the sorority house making love to his sweetheart, Jean, played by Catherine Burton. The attempts of Jerry to escape from the sorority house without being discovered by the coach, played by Gordon Becker, and trainer, played by Floyd Beam, form the plot of the comedy and are said to promise many a laugh to the audience.

The remainder of the supporting cast are: Karle Crawford as George, Jerry’s friend; Wm. Luther as freshman Bill; Katherine Crossett as Nellie, the freshman girl; George Simons as Derik, the red headed freshman; Harry Osborne as Prof. Gaddis; Mildred Shaffer as Dean Howard; Harvey Hillman as cheer leader; George Powell as glee club president; Earl Bernhardt as Dr. Seamore and Anna Jennings as Mrs. Seamore.

The “Flapper Chorus,” a big hit of the show, consists of prominent business men dressed as girls, portraying the sorority president, Tillie, the toiler, Gold Digger, Studious Girl, Clara Bow, Joan Crawford, Gloria Swanson and many other noted artists of the screen world.
