The Bernhardt Lumber Store is seen in this aerial view of Hemlock NY.

The Bernhardt Lumber Yard was located on Water St. in Hemlock NY. It was established by Earl E. Bernhardt circa 1929 and provided general lumber and construction services to the immediate region.

There were four buildings on the north side of Water St. which are labelled as buildings 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the adjoining aerial photograph.

On 17 March of 1964 the business was sold and a new corporation known as “Bernhardt Lumber Inc. in Hemlock” was formed.

The new owners were President, Francis Kosakowski, Pebble Beach Rd., Lakeville; Vice-President, Terry Flood, Beach Rd. Hemlock; Secretary and Treasurer, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Sullivan, East Lake Rd. Livonia, and Robert Rigney of Pebble Beach, Lakeville, and purchased the Bernhardt Lumber Yard from Earl Bernhardt in 1952. Bob, having had a serious accident water skiing a few years ago had been unable to participate actively on the job. The above owners are not newcomers and need no introductions. We wish them well and success!
