The Obituary of Mehitable Magill Capron

7 October 1834 - 11 November 1904

From the Guthrie Leader, Tuesday, 15 November 1904.

Guthrie OK - Mrs. J.R. Capron died at the family residence, seven and one-half miles south of Guthrie, and one mile west of Charter Oak school house, on the afternoon of Nov. 11.

The deceased was born in Pennsylvania and was married to John Reese Capron, four children were born to them, two sons and two daughters, three of whom survive her, one daughter died when quite small, one son, Herbert and the daughter, Miss Stella, reside here and the other son James, who was here a short time ago to visit his mother, lives at El Paso, Texas; Mr. Capron the husband of this subject, died seven years ago.

Mrs. Capron had been in ill health for sometime and confined to her bed the greater part of the last two months, gradually growing weaker until the disease (supposed to be dropsy) completed its work and she passed away from her much loved children and home to that “heavenly mansion”, which, Jesus has gone to prepare for his followers.”

Her sufferings were long and severe yet she bore them with patience and would very often ask the blessed Saviour to come quickly and take her from her sufferings; she talked of death as though she were going on a journey, making every preparation, instead of going to that “bourne from whence no traveler ever returns.” His grace was sufficient even down to the valley of the shadow of death, and as earthly visions faded and she passed into the spirit lands doubtless an heavenly escort “bore her away on their snowy wings to her eternal house.”

Thus she passed away, calmly, beautifully, as a boat wafted by the breeze into the bosom of a peaceful lake, so was her spirit borne by the angels into the bosom of Him who said, “I will never leave nor forsake thee, but still go and prepare a place for you that where I am there ye may be also”

Mrs. Capron leaves a host of friends to mourn their loss, she was a dearly beloved old lady by all who knew her.

The family desires to thank the friends and neighbors who so kindly aided those during the sickness and death of their dearly beloved mother.
