The Wambold - Miller Wedding

Springwater - Miss Dorothy Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Miller of Springwater was united in marriage to Clair Wambold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Heman Jay Wambold of Sparta at a beautiful twilight wedding at the home of the bride’s parents in Springwater last evening. Rev. Miss Helena Chapman, pastor of the M. E. Church of Springwater performed the ceremony. The single ring ceremony was used.

The bride was gowned in a white wedding dress and carried a delicate bouquet of pink roses and gypsophila.

Miss Betty Miller, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She was attired in pink and carried a bouquet of pink and white flowers.

Leonard Pifer, a cousin of the groom, was best man.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Edmund Miller.

Following the ceremony a reception and luncheon was given at the home of the bride’s parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Wambold are now on a short wedding trip.

The bride was a graduate of the Springwater High School two years ago and has been employed in the postoffice at Springwater. Mr. Wambold, a graduate of the Groveland High School and the Geneseo State Normal School, is taking special work in summer school at the Normal. He has been teaching at a Springwater rural school for the past two terms.

Out of town guests attending the wedding included those from Buffalo and Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Obituary of Clair V. Wambold

1 March 1914 - 12 May 1988

From the Genesee Country Express, 19 May 1988

A former Dansville area man, Clair V. Wambold, 74, of West Bloomfield and Englewood, Fla., died unexpectedly Thursday (May 12, 1988).

He was born Mar. 1, 1914, a son of Heman Jay and Mary Jane Pifer Wambold. He graduated from Geneseo Normal School in 1935 and taught school for several years before joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation, beginning a 31-year career.

Mr. Wambold married Dorothy Miller of Springwater on July 2, 1937. Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley Walker and Sharon King of Rochester; two brothers, Glenn of Harrisburg, Pa. and Perry of Scottsburg; a sister, Grace Lown of Dansville; five grand-children; nieces and nephews.

A service was conducted in the Miller Funeral Home of Rochester with the Rev. Walter B. Reed officiating. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Springwater.

On May 12th 2016 at age 98. Predeceased by her Husband, Clair V. Wambold; Parents, Edmund J. & Ethel Toale Miller; Sister, Betty Goodel; Brother, Edmund J. Miller “Bud”; Grandson, John Paul King II, Survived by 2 daughters, Shirley E. (James E.) Walker & Sharon W. (Matthew) Hart; Grandchildren, James E. Walker, Jr., Patrick J. Walker, Robert M. Walker, Jennifer L. King & Matthew C. Hart; 13 Great-Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9th, 11 AM at the Episcopal Church Home (505 Mt. Hope Ave.). Interment will be held privately at Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery in Springwater, NY. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in support of the Episcopal Senior Life Communities (505 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester, NY 14620)
