Mather Cider Mill Building Bought by Fletcher

From the Livonia Gazette, 22 March 1945

Mr. Olin Mather of Hemlock has sold his cider mill building to William Fletcher, also of Hemlock, who, it is reported, will do some kind of war work there.

This building, according to Mr. Mather, was erected in 1860 at Dixon Hollow by his grandfather, Norman W. Mather, who went to the Hollow in 1826. He ran a woolen mill there, it is explained, but the original building burned and in 1860 he erected the building just sold, which Olin Mather moved from Dixon Hollow to its present site in Hemlock village in 1919. The oak beams are said to be a foot square and the joists 3X8s.
