War Time Letters of Dorothy Ann Duffy

From the Dansville Breeze, 27 February 1947

She says, making light of it, that it helped to fill the time for her. But one thing is sure, it helped to fill the time, in a very cheering way, for the boys who got the letters.

Just how many she wrote, probably only she knows - and the total mileage rolled up, by air, land, and sea, to reach far scattered destinations, staggers the imagination.

Now the boys are back - and they haven’t forgotten. They are rallying around, to show, in a practical way, what they may have found difficult to put into words.

Miss Duffy has accepted appointment as campaign chairman for the 1947 Red Cross Fund in the Springwater Branch of the Clara Barton Chapter and seven young men, of whom six are ex-servicemen, are going out as her special deputies to clinch the Springwater quota.

Their names are Keith Straight, Kermit Straight, Bud Miller, James White, Howard Kramer, Edward Holmes, and Francis Holmes.

Anybody doubt that they’ll get what they go after?
