The Obituary of Amelia Short Day

Mrs. Millie Day died at her home on Washington Street, Livonia, Friday night, June 30, after an illness of nineteen days. She was born in Hemlock, May 4, 1853, daughter of Josiah and Esther Weller Short and moved to Livonia about thirty five years ago. In 1910 she was married to William Day, whose death occurred in 1923.

Mrs. Day was a great lover of flowers and spent many hours working in her garden. She celebrated her 91st birthday on May 4, among her plants and flowers, getting the gardens ready for the summer.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Livonia Center, also of the King’s Daughters.

Surviving are three nieces. Mrs. Herbert Breece of Michigan, Mrs. C. A. Dowell of New York, Mrs. William Strenge of Utica; three nephews, Dr. A. A. Sullivan of Rochester, Charles and Gilbert Sullivan of Albany; also three stepdaughters, Mrs. Cora Dawson and Mrs. Ruth Lane of Tennessee and Mrs. Myrtle Webster of Wisconsin.

Funeral services were held at the residence on Washington Street, Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., Rev, F. F. Piper of Prattsburg, former pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
