Groveland - John C. Collins, 72, of Groveland died Sunday Oct. 25, 1987.

He was born Nov. 5, 1914, a son of James and Elizabeth Thielges Collins. Mr. Collins worked as a farmer in the Groveland area.

Surviving are his wife, Lila Boyer Collins; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Florence) Perkins of Springwater; two sons, James and John, both of Groveland; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Collins of Avon; two brothers, Patrick and Daniel of Avon; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said in St. Mary’s Church at Geneseo Tuesday morning. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Groveland, with arrangement by the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home of Geneseo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Fund.

Groveland - John C. Collins, 72 of Groveland died Oct. 25. He is survived by his wife, Lila (Boyer); his daughter, Mrs. Charles (Florence) Perkins, of Springwater; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Eileen Collins, John and Darleen Collins, all of Groveland; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Collins and brothers, Patrick and Daniel Collins, all of Avon.

He was a self employed farmer with a farm located at 5988 Arbor Hill Rd.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said Tues., at St. Mary’s Church in Geneseo. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Groveland. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Fund. Arrangements were by Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo.

Lila Boyer Collins, mother of former town councilperson, Florence Perkins, and grandmother of Chief Charles Perkins of Dansville passed away on January 31, 2015. Mrs. Collins was 94 years of age and had in recent years had several health issues that were lovingly addressed with care and devotion by her family and the staff at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1987, son, James in 2003, parents, Charles and Florence Sattora Boyer, siblings, Charles Boyer, Arlene Marks, Elwood, Richard, W. James and Walter Boyer, son in law, Charles “Buster” Perkins in 2005.

Besides Florence, Mrs. Collins is also survived by her son, John (Darlene) Collins of Groveland, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, sister in law, Shirley Boyer of Skaneateles, NY, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and the staff at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Lila was born March 8, 1920, in Leicester, NY to Charles and Florence Sattora Boyer. Before she married, she worked in the Geneseo Jam Kitchen and after her marriage to John on November 15, 1941 she devoted herself to caring for the farm and their children. When the children were grown she resumed working outside the home, first at the Hainsworth Farm and Country Store, then the Four Seasons Store in Lakeville and retired from the Bread and Butter Shop in Groveland when she was 76 years old.

She was a loving mom, grandmother and great grandmother that was devoted to her family. She enjoyed people and always made them feel welcome. She enjoyed gardening, knew most of the flowers by name and even in Springwater, where there are more rocks than soil, she took great pleasure in working in the yard.

Services were handled by Rector Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo on Friday, February 6, with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.

Lila B. Collins, age 94, of Liberty Pole Rd. in Springwater, formerly of Groveland, died Friday, January 31, 2015 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris.

Predeceased by her husband, John, son, James, parents, Charles and Florence Boyer, siblings, Charles Boyer, Arlene Marks, Elwood, Richard, W. James and Walter Boyer, son in law, Charles Perkins.

She is survived by her children, Florence Perkins of Springwater, John (Darlene) Collins of Groveland, grandchildren, Charles (Lisa) Perkins Jr., Jotham (Kristie Stevenson) Perkins, Christopher Perkins, Tonya (Robert) Semmel, John P. Collins II, Millicent (Michael) Aten, M. Elizabeth (Don Kinney) Collins, great grandchildren, Charles (Katrina Nagle) Perkins III, Shanna (Larry) Burley, Arick (Corinne) Perkins, Chase, Jotham, Jessica, Brady, Giada and Ginevra Perkins, Cheltsea (Joe) Layland, Taylor Semmel, Michael Aten Jr., Kallista Kinney, Nathan Stevenson and Jason Semmel, 7 great great grandchildren, sister in law, Shirley Boyer of Skaneateles, NY, several nieces, nephwes, cousins and many dear friends and the staff at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11 AM. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.
