The history of Saint Michael’s Mission began in 1926 when the priests and brothers of the Divine Word Missionaries came to Conesus to continue the operation of Bishop McQuaid’s vineyards. Eventually, it became a preparatory seminary for young men studying Theology.

Saint Michael’s Mission is located on the west slope of Hemlock Lake in Conesus NY on Mission Road.

There was a grotto at Saint Michael’s Mission, called the “Rosary Grotto”. It was located just south of the Mission along the bank of the buildings. The Grotto was built by Fridolin Iten who was a friar at the Mission.
